Cool Enough for even a 5th Grader

Bought these readers for a very fussy 5th grader who used them during a class beach hike along the shoreline. Rather than wear the expensive prescription Transition, Progressive, and anti-reflective eye glasses, which don't cut the glare, these glasses were a better and cheaper alternative. With these readers, it was possible to view beach specimens up close and also be able to read text outdoors without sun fatigue. With the Polarized bronze lenses, the ability to see beneath the surface of the water while skipping over tide pools was a real treat. Now if they came also in +3 power, I would buy another pair.

Nice glasses but lens will come apart/break

Lens will come apart/break by top screw eventually. I've owned 3 pairs of these and the lens always breaks there after about 8-12 months. They replaced them all but it's is not free to do this even under warranty. Charge a service fee and you have to ship back. I've owned ray bans that this never happen to. Just a pain to keep returning for repair. You have to be VERY careful when you clean them They are very fragile where the lens and screw are drilled in. They are light weight and that probably contributes to the breaking issue. Clean them very very gentle or in time they will break! Your might be broken already and its just hasn't slipped out yet. The screw will still hold the lenses in.

Quality Product

I received the Maui Jim Readers about a week ago and I am extremely pleased with the sunglasses. They fit well, very comfortable and the tint is dark enough for effective sun blocking but light enough to even use the reader portion of the glasses indoors. They are quite expensive but so far seem well worth the purchase price. I have had prescription sunglasses in the past that did not work nearly as well and cost more.
